About A Good Day Cafe

As found in the Herald Tribune

A Good Day Cafe is the culmination of a dream of proprietor Timothy Kopfle, who has long wanted to open his own restaurant.

“I’m very excited about owning my own restaurant and plan to offer fresh selections with many local ingredients with dishes made in-house,” said Kopfle, who previously worked for Peaches and Broken Egg restaurants. “We are planning to open around January 10 for breakfast all day and lunch.”

The new cafe, located in Blackburn Point Plaza in Osprey in the former Los Portales Mexican Restaurant, has been renovated into a pleasing setting with metallic epoxy table tops and a focal point bar featuring a Google Earth-like top. Seating accommodates about 50 diners in a spruced up space with blue hues edged in black and a collection of paintings gracing the walls.

Among signature breakfast offerings at the new eatery will be a smoked salmon scramble, Mediterranean omelets, skillet variations, and much more. “Plus our special house-made home fries,” added Kopfle.

For lunch, diners may select traditional soups, salads or sandwiches with a twist, like chicken salad with grapes and pecans, Reubens with meat roasted on the premises and a distinctive chili. There also are vegan options and soon, a bakery counter with gluten-free treats. Beer and wine will be available as well as coffees and soft drinks.

A Good Day Café, located at 1092 S. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
